ST. JAMES – The St. James Wildcats will look to start down the road to aseventh-straight district championship as they host Donaldsonville Friday night.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.St. James (4-1) won its fourth straight game Friday, 30-6 over Booker T.Washington. Corey Webster completed five-of-10 passes for 133 yards andtwo touchdowns. Davin Dennis had four of the catches for 90 yards andboth scores.

Leslie Aubert led the rushing attack with 96 yards on 11 carries. TheWildcat offense rolled up 398 total yards, 254 rushing, while the defense picked off three passes.

The St. James defense set up the first score as Cedric Vaughn interceptedJohn Carter at the Wildcats’ 34-yard line. The Wildcats drove to the Lions’8-yard line where Alvin Bartholomew came in to hit a 25-yard field goal.

The defense again set up the offense on its next drive as Bartholomew grabbed an interception and returned it to the Lions’ 11-yard line. Thistime, the Wildcats were able to push it in as Webster found Dennis for the score from 11 yards out.

Bartholomew made it 17-0 on a 3-yard run. Webster and Dennis againteamed up, this time from 55 yards out to build the lead to 23-0 at halftime. Webster increased the advantage to 30-0 on a 1-yard run in thethird quarter. Washington got on the board in the fourth quarter as Carterfound Elston Husband on a 7-yard pass.

Webster and Dennis are among the leaders at their positions in the area.

Webster has hit on 33-of-66 passes for 592 yards and nine touchdowns while being intercepted just once. Dennis has 18 catches for 309 yardsand two touchdowns.

This week, the Wildcats will be facing a Donaldsonville team coming off its first win of the season, 21-14 over Ellender. The Tigers had opened theseason with losses to Assumption, Independence, Plaquemine and Morgan City. Donaldsonville has struggled since losing to St. James in the 1996semifinals, going 2-8 each of the last two seasons.

The Tigers are led by junior quarterback Terrence Brown. Brown passed fora school-record 1,000 yards last season. Ronnie Jarvis and Edmond Josephare Brown’s favorite receivers.

Senior running back Matt Darville was an all-district pick last season after leading the team in rushing. He also handles the Tigers’ kick returnduties. Mike Lymon, a 210-pound fullback, will help with the blocking.Defensively, the Tigers are strong up front, returning ends Dustin Schexnayder and Mike Gipson and tackles Ronald Alsay and Terrence Dorsey. Linebacker Tony LeBlanc, the team’s leading tackler in 1998, anddefensive back Ricky Siemien also return.
