RESERVE – Keonadra Robertson had 11 kills to help Lutcher overcome a one-game deficit and a strong defensive effort by Riverside, 14-16, 15-9, 15-10, Thursday afternoon in the Rebel gym.

Lutcher improved to 9-6 overall, winning its fourth game over the past week. Riverside fell to 6-9 on the season.Lutcher took a 3-1 lead in the third game on three Riverside errors. TheLady Rebels came back to take a 6-4 advantage behind an ace by Cassie St.

Amant and a kill by Amie Graugnard.

Lutcher tied the score on an ace by Lindsey Louque and a Riverside error before taking the lead for good on a dink by Robertson. Another dink byRobertson helped build the lead to 10-6.

A dig by Graugnard helped set up a dink by St. Amant to cut the deficit tothree. But the Lady Bulldogs came back with kills by Holly Hymel andTiffany Griffin and a dink by Toni Riley to make it a 13-7 game. A block byHymel brought the Lady Bulldogs to match point which they got three serves later on an ace by Griffin.

Riverside took a 3-2 lead in the first game on a block and kill by Jennifer Smith. Lutcher tied the score on an ace by Griffin and went ahead 5-3 on across-court kill by Breeze Vicknair and a dink by Riley.

The Lady Bulldogs built the lead to 9-5 on a block by Griffin, an ace by Riley and a cross-court kill by Vicknair.

Riverside rallied, tying the score at 10 behind a kill by Kelly Louque and an ace by Graugnard. After a timeout by Lutcher, Jennifer Guidry gave theLady Rebels the lead with a cross-court kill. Lutcher regained the lead ona kill by Riley before Riverside went ahead 14-12 on two dinks by Amy Hymel and an ace by Louque.

Lutcher broke three serves before tying the game on two kills by Robertson. But the Lady Rebels got the game winner on their next serve ontwo Lutcher errors.

Lutcher jumped ahead 4-0 in the second game on aces by Louque and Vicknair and a kill by Ashley Huguet. That lead grew to 10-1 on two acesby Riley and two kills by Hymel. Riverside again rallied, cutting thedeficit to 11-5 on aces by Smith and Graugnard.

A kill by Guidry brought the Lady Rebels to within 12-7. Riverside wouldmake it 13-9 on two Lutcher errors but the Lady Bulldogs would come back to take the game on a kill by Griffin and an error by the Lady Rebels.

Riley finished with a game-high three aces while Breeze Vicknair provided top defense for the Lady Bulldogs. For the Lady Rebels, Smith had 10 kills,an ace and 21 digs while Guidry contributed nine kills, an ace and 13 digs.

“We had too many service errors,” Lutcher coach Denise Riley said. “Wehave to learn to overcome those and we have been doing a good job of that.

I’m proud of them. They wanted it and they showed it. It was a good match.It’s like that every time we play Riverside. It’s a good rivalry, veryenjoyable.”Lutcher will play two today at Parkview Baptist. The Lady Bulldogs willopen against Parkview at 10 a.m. with Woodlawn following at 11 a.m.Riverside hosts St. Charles Catholic Tuesday with junior varisty startingat 4 p.m.

SAINTS SWEEP LADY EAGLES – Reserve – Ashley Peterson had six kills to help St. Martin’s to a 15-6, 15-8 sweep of Reserve Christian Thursdayafternoon in the Eagles’ gym.

St. Martin’s improved to 10-3 overall while Reserve Christian fell to 7-8.Tiffany Davis added three aces for the Saints while Alex Pappas provided top defense. Amber Schlesinger led Reserve Christian with two kills.Shelly Ford and Renee Delaneuville had two aces apiece while Summer Vicknair was the Lady Eagles’ top defender.
