DESTREHAN – It was all Destrehan Friday night as the Slidell Tigers lost to the Wildcats on their home field in Destrehan by a score of 21-0.

Slidell quarterback Billy Moody was unable to get a decent drive going and his passing game seemed doomed by the Destrehan defense.

Scott Ray led the Tigers rushing game with 6 carries for a total of 20 yards.

Destrehan’s Ivan Mashia turned in an energetic performance. He was allover the field feeding the ball to running Back Deron Love who scored a touchdown in the Wildcat’s second drive of the game.

In addition to Love, Mashia turned in a decent running game show with help from running backs Dechad Ward and Lucky Givens.

The first half ended with Destrehan on top 7-0. The next score camemidway through the third quarter with a screen pass from Mashia to wide receiver Fred Smith. Smith trotted for 66 yards to the end zone. Followingthe extra point from Jonathan Scifres, it was 14-0 Destrehan.

Slidell brought in Quarterback Duke Haribison in the fourth quarter and enjoyed a mild rally. They earned two first downs in their second drive, one of them on a rush by Haribison himself.

However, penalties crippled the Tigers. They incurred three penalties forfalse starts alone in the one drive.

Destrehan’s final touchdown came late in the fourth quarter after a 21- yard scamper by Love. Following the extra point kick, the Wildcats led it21-0.

The game was all but over at that point following a four and out effort by Slidell with three incomplete passes in a row from Haribison to full back Carl Ledet.
