BOUTTE – Hahnville will be looking to shake off a third-straight one-point loss to East St. John when it hosts Central Lafourche Friday night.The game will wrap up a season-opening five-game homestand for the Tigers (2-2 overall, 0-1 in District 7-5A). Hahnville travels to SouthTerrebonne next Friday night.

Hahnville’s hopes for a victory last Friday seemed to vanish when East St.

John took over late in the fourth quarter holding a 28-21 lead. But theTiger defense held and the offense took over at its 20-yard line with a minute left.

From there, Dawan Landry found Darryl Honor open at the 46. Honor jukedhis way to the end zone, cutting across the field to bring the Tigers to within one. Coach Lou Valdin decided to go for the win at home but East St.John’s Bryson White cut into the Tiger backfield to sack Landry on the two-point attempt.

The outcome was similar to 1997 when the Wildcats held off a two-point attempt by the Tigers to preserve a 45-44 victory. Hahnville bounced backfrom that defeat to advance to the bi-district playoffs.

The Tigers will look to gave a similar recovery this season. Landry has leda rejuvenated offense, ranking among the area leaders with 49 completions in 91 attempts for 773 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was 13-of-26 for 236 yards and three touchdowns Friday, his third three- touchdown game of the season.

One of Landry’s favorite receivers, Mark Young, was held in check during the game but Aaron Alexander, Corey Woods and Carl Raymond combined to catch nine passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns.

Hahnville will be facing a Central Lafourche team that is also coming off a loss in its district opener, 27-20 at home against South Lafourche. Theloss dropped the Trojans to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in district.

Central Lafourche only returns four starters on offense and three on defense from a season ago. The Trojans’ multiple-I offense is led bysenior running back Darius Griffin. Charles Folse is at the other spot in the2-back formation with first-year starter Andy Griffin at quarterback.

The defense is led by tackle Chris Hecker, an all-district pick a year ago.

Shane Eschete and Jason Stoddard, both seniors, lead the defensive backfield.
