NOAH finishes second at 11-12 state tournament

LAFAYETTE – The NOAH 11-12-year-old All-Stars made history again at the Little League Baseball Louisiana State Tournament in Lafayette this week.

The All-Stars fell to South Lake Charles, 6-0, in the championship game, but became Noah’s first 11-12 team to be state runners-up. The All-Starshad already become the first 11-12 team to win the District II championship and advance to the state tournament.

South Lake Charles’ Grant DeRouen pitched a no-hitter in the championship game. South Lake Charles, which has gone undefeated three straight yearsin All-Star play with this team, will represent Louisiana in the regionals in St. Petersburg, Fla.NOAH opened the tournament, hosted by Lafayette Little League, with a 4- 0 victory over East Shreveport. A.J. Delaneuville pitched the shutout andstruck out 13 batters. Timothy Byrd had two RBIs while Casey Robottomadded one.

NOAH then took South Lake Charles to extra innings before falling in the eighth, 10-6. Byrd and Ricky Johnson had two hits apiece.NOAH came back in the loser’s bracket to beat Lincoln (Ruston), 6-4.

Roland Ricca had a three-run triple and Kendall Diggs added a two-run home run. Delaneuville was the winning pitcher.In the tournament, NOAH was led on defense by Byrd and Delaneuville and on offense by Byrd, Diggs, Johnson and Robottom.
