Do you ever feel like you are not good enough, that no one really cares, or that you won’t amount to anything? Do you ever feel really lonely, like no one really likes you or wants to be your friend? Do things go so wrong sometimes that you wish you didn’t even exist? The truth is that a lot of teen-agers feel this way at some point in their lives.
It is called depression.
To be depressed simply means to be sad; low in spirits; reduced in amount, value or power. Some people try to remedy depression with drugs or alcohol, anythingthat will block out the pain. Often times depression comes when we face a hardor unfair situation, and we feel as though we can’t do anything about it, like we have no control over our lives.
That’s not how God intended it to be. Romans 8:37 says,” No, in all these thingswe are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” God doesn’t want us to ever be depressed. He loves us so much that heconsidered it all joy to die on the cross for us that we might have salvation thro- ugh him. Sometimes we face situations that seem hopeless, and we just don’tknow how to handle things. We have to place our faith in God. Before God formedus in the womb, he knew us. He knows and understands everything you’re goingthrough.
The Bible says it doesn’t matter what state our heart is in; He’s faithful to answer us with words that are true and a hope that is real. Apart from God wehave no hope, and even if we might find happiness in the world for a season, it will not last.
Psalms 42:5 says,” Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior.” Don’t live in a state of sadness or depression. And, don’t always count on yourfriends or family to pull you out. There are some things only God can fix. Let himbe your Savior.
