GRAMERCY – The Louisiana Board of Ethics has said state Rep. RobertFaucheux Jr., can serve as attorney for the town of Gramercy.The Board of Ethics reviewed the matter during its April 14 meeting.

Faucheux had requested the review to ensure there were no legal conflictions in a business association with the municipality.

The board concluded that Faucheux is not prohibited by the Code of Governmental Ethics to serve as attorney since Gramercy is considered a political subdivision. Section 1113D of the Code of Governmental Ethics doesnot allow such an association with a state department, agency or branch.

The Gramercy Board of Aldermen voted Faucheux as their attorney unanimously at its April 10 meeting.

The Louisiana Board of Ethics’ only requirement of Faucheux is a personal financial disclosure statement, which a state representative is required to file in standard accordance to Section 1114.1 of the ethics code.
