BURNES BASSFIELD, Miss.Marrian Joyice Burnes, 34, a native of New Orleans andresident of LaPlace for four years, died Feb. 2. She was the fianc of MyronBrackens Sr. and mother of Tumeka and Anner Burnes, Myronika andBrittany Brackens, Patricia Weber, Curtis Burnes and Myron and Brandon Brackens.
She was also the daughter of Leveron Burnes and sister of Martina, Claude Jr., Johnnie, Acia and Larry Burnes.She is also survived by three grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 6 at Progress Missionary Baptist Church, Bassfield,with interment at the church cemetery.
CHAMPION PARADISGail Elizabeth Estay Champion, 38, a native of Luling and resident of Paradis, died Feb. 4. She was the wife of Glen A. Champion and mother ofCody and Troy Champion.
She was also the daughter of James Sr. and Ruth Cox Estay and sister ofBobbie Schexnayder, Belinda Chatman, Wendy Abate and James Estay Jr.
She was also the granddaughter of David Cox, the late Joy Chatman and Percy and Verlie Estay.
Services were held Feb. 7 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Paradis,with interment at Holy Savior Cemetery, Lockport.
CHAUVIN UNIONNeola Marie Chauvin, 80, a native of Union, died Feb. 4. She was thewife of the late Wilbert Chauvin and mother of Janice Stein, Adele Schexnaydre, Harry Chauvin and the late Larry Chauvin.
She was also the sister of Tilda “Beek” Chauvin and the late June, Anna and Louis Chauvin.
She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She waspreceded in death by three grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 7 at St. Mary’s Chapel, Union, with interment at St.Mary Cemetery.
CLEMENT CHALMETTEJan “Gina” Lynn Clement, 43, a native of New Orleans and resident of Gramercy, died Jan. 24. She was the mother of Brandy Breaud,Rachel Clement and Brent Klusner.
She is also survived by three grandchildren and her companion, Eugene “Killer” Zeringue.
Private graveside services were held Feb. 8 at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens,Chalmette.
GRANIER DONALDSONVILLEJoseph Albert Granier Sr., 88, a native of Iberville Parish,longtime resident of St. James Parish and resident of Donaldsonville, diedFeb. 6. He was the husband of 61 years of Lelia Charlet Granier and father ofJuanita Quaid, Janet Boza and Joseph Jr., David and Richard Granier.He was also the son of the late Luke Sr. and Mary Thibodeaux Granier andbrother of Stella Gravois, Evelyn Comeaux and Luke Granier Jr.
He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
He was a retired principal of Vacherie Elementary School with 35 years of service and served for several years as supervisor of the child welfare and attendance program.
Services were held Feb. 8 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church,Donaldsonville, with interment at Our Lady of Peace Mausoleum, Vacherie.
GREAUD NORCOCletus Anthony Greaud Sr., 82, a native of Baton Rouge and residentof Norco, died Feb. 4. He was the husband of Anna Marie Furrate Greaud andfather of Jean Buller, Janet Keen, Judith Perry and Cletus Jr., Timothy,Terry, Louis and Patrick Greaud.
He was also the son of the late W. Bowman Sr. and Virginia Becnel Greaudand brother of Lucie Guttner, Lillie Slade, Dorothy Ourso, Sister Virginia Greaud and the late Martha Lockwood and W. Bowman Greaud Jr.He is also survived by 14 grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 7 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Norco,with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum, Destrehan.
HEBERT METAIRIEEarl Nicholas Hebert, 26, a native of New Orleans and resident of St. Rose for the past 15 years, died Feb. 6. He was the father of Kirby T.Hebert II.
He was also the son of Kirby T. and Robin DuThu Hebert, brother of AliciaHebert and step-brother of Melissa Couch.
He was also the grandchild of Norwood Sr. and Laura LeBlanc Hebert, LeonDuThu and the late Bernadette Terrebonne DuThu.
He was a former student at Destrehan High School.
Services were held Feb. 8 in the chapel of Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home,Metairie, with interment at Garden of Memories.
RAFFRAY MARREROVernon Paul “Bud” Raffray Jr., 60, a native of Gramercy, formerresident of Westwego and resident of Monroe for 10 years, died Feb. 3. Hewas the father of Jewel O’Neil, Lena and Jeff Raffray.
He was also the brother of Hazel Lefort and Fay and Ray Raffray.
He is also survived by two grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 7 in the chapel of Westside Funeral Home, Marrero,with interment at Restlawn Park.
WOOD LAPLACEWalter E. Wood Sr., 86, a native of Telico, Texas, and a residentof Garyville, died Feb. 7. He was the husband of the late Ruth Wood andfather of Anita Saucier and the late Walter Wood Jr.
He is also survived by two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are today at 2 p.m. at St. John Memorial Gardens,LaPlace.
