ANDERSON GARYVILLEThe Rev. Lensey Anderson Jr., 47, a native of Garyville, diedJan. 13. He was the husband of Rebecca Jones Anderson and father ofLensey Anderson III.

He was also the son of the late Rev. Lindsey Sr. and Aletha Brown Andersonand brother of Lois Anderson, Cheryl Davis, Sgt. Larry, Johnell “Champ”and the Rev. Carl Anderson Sr. and the late Betty Jones.Services were held Jan. 20 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church No. 1, Garyville, withinterment at Marathon Cemetery.

CROCKETT LULINGLionel Crockett Sr., 70, a native and resident of Luling, died Jan.15. He was the husband of Idola Jackson Crockett, father of Ashley, Barry,Demond, George, Jeannie, Jerry, Michael and Lionel Crockett Jr. and step-father of Bridgette Franklin and Stephanie Dunmiles.

He was also the son of the late Albert and Leona Williams Crockett.

He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Bell Baptist Church, Luling, withinterment at St. Mary Cemetery, Boutte. Visitation starts at 8:30 a.m.

DAVIS HAHNVILLESusan F. “Pearl” Davis, 87, a native of st. John Parish andresident of Ama, died Jan. 16. She was the mother of Betty Griffin andSusie Sandolph.

She was also the daughter of the late Celestine and Isadora Fox and sister of Martha Gross, Mary Jackson, Landry Fox and Isaiah Sr. and MatthewFranklin.

She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was a deaconess for True Vine Baptist Church.

Services were held Jan. 20 at True Vine Baptist Church, Hahnville, withinterment at Bethlehem Cemetery, Hahnville.

DOSS LIONSDonald Ray “Duck” Doss, 46, a native of Reserve, died Jan. 16. Hewas the father of Lavintia Doss, Aurille Duhe and Kristy, Donna, Dominique, Tiranika, Donald and Ronald Weber.

He was also the son of Joe Doss Sr. and Everlena Melancon, step-son ofCora Doss and the late Armand Melancon and brother of Stella White, Evelyn Basile, Mercedes Thomas, Elouise Eugene, Calvin, Joe Jr. andOrlando Doss, Kenneth Melancon and the late John Doss Sr.

He is also survived by three grandchildren.

Services are today at noon at Zion Travelers Baptist Church, Reserve, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation begins at 10 a.m.

FRANKLIN VACHERIEWilbert “Sheena” Franklin, 81, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Jan. 18. He was the father of Emelda James, Ceola Weber,Mary Green, Marvis White, Georgiana Mackie and Alberta and Joseph Franklin.

He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Greater First Baptist Church, Vacherie,with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 8:30 a.m.

GEORGE RESERVELovey Mary George, 88, a native of Madison County, Miss., andresident of Reserve for 10 years, died Jan. 13. She was the mother ofHarry Peal and step-mother of Ester Smith and Sylvester George.

She was also the sister of Anabelle Brown, Pinkie Stevenson, Oralee Johnson, Elnora Jackson, L.V. Bailey and William Foote.She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Greater New Plymouth Rock BaptistChurch, Reserve, with interment at Zion Traveler’s Cemetery, Lions.

Visitation starts at 10 a.m.

GRIFFIN ST. ROSELillian McDonald Griffin, 82, a native of Prescott, Ark., andresident of St. Rose, died Jan. 19. She was the wife of the late William J.Griffin Sr. and mother of William Griffin Jr.She was also the sister of Georgie Pocien, Johnell Jones and Bubby McDonald.

She is also survived by two grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Jan. 21 at Jefferson Memorial GardensCemetery, St. Rose.

JOHNSON ST. JAMESLee Royal Joseph Johnson, 42, a native of St. James andresident of LaPlace, died Jan. 17. He was the husband of Jeano DurantJohnson and father of Lee Royal Jr. and Francis, Dorrell, Vera Lee andLeroy J. Johnson.He was also the son of the late Robert Sr. and Ella Tate Johnson andbrother of Clara, Rose, Gladies, Angela, Gail Gracie, Cornelius, Herbert and Ray Johnson.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, LaPlace, withinterment at Buena Vista Baptist Cemetery, St. James.

LAMBERT LUTCHERDale Joseph Lambert Jr., 30, a native and resident of Lutcher,died Jan. 20. He was the son of Dale Sr. and Mary Ann Granier Lambert andbrother of Trude Lambert.

He was also the grandson of Hilda Kliebert, Edna Chiquet Granier and the late Eusebe Lambert and Louis Granier.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Chapel,Lutcher, with interment at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Paulina. Visitationstarts at 9 a.m.

MASON KENNERStephen H. Mason, 53, a native of Parkersburg, W. Va., andresident of Luling for 19 years, died Jan. 17. He was the husband of MaryHill Mason and father of Stephen, Richard, Daniel and Alex Mason.

He was also the son of Lawrence “Dusty” and Dollie Conley Mason and brother of Janet Locascio.

He is also survived by two grandchildren.

He was an employee of Union Carbide for 30 years.

Services were held Jan. 20 in the chapel of L.A. Muhleisen & Son FuneralHome, Kenner, with interment at Ridgewood Cemetery, Wellston, Ohio.

MATTHEWS LIBERTY, Miss.Diane Matthews, 49, a native of Liberty, Miss., andresident of LaPlace, died Jan. 16. She was the wife of Jerry Moore andmother of Donna, Devona, Maryl, Gerald and Terry Matthews.

She was also the daughter of the late Willie and Lenoria Duncan Matthews and sister of Fairy Green, Renee Hunt and Willie “Poochie,” Willie “Red,” Willie “LaDon,” Patrick, Marilyn, Annette and the late Early Matthews.

She is also survived by 10 grandchildren.

Services are today at 1 p.m. at Parson Hill Missionary Baptist Church,Liberty, Miss., with interment at the church cemetery.

MELANCON ST. CHARLES COMMUNITYGabriella Weimer Melancon, 87, a native ofPaulina and resident of St. Charles Community, died Jan. 19. She was thewife of the late Wilson Melancon and mother of Barbara and Ralph Melancon.

She was also the daughter of the late Clement and Maggie Goodman Weimer and sister of Robert, Charles, Clement and Philip Weimer and the late Marguerite Richard, Mary Robichaux and Frank and Wendalyn Weimer.

She is also survived by one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Services were held Jan. 21 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, St.Charles Community, with interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Raceland.

MEYERS NORCONellie Pittman Meyers, 70, a native of Gramercy and resident of Norco, died Jan. 12.Services are today at 12:30 p.m. at Good Hope Baptist Church, Norco, withinterment at Providence Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation starts at 11a.m.

SUTHERLAND ST. JAMESReginald Joseph “Bup” Sutherland, 37, a native and resident ofSt. James, died Jan. 19. He was the son of Charles Sr. and BeatriceSutherland and brother of Crystal Williams, Janet Moses, Lisha Hathorn, Mary Ann Felder and Charles Jr., David and the late Lydia Sutherland.Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, St. James,with interment at Burdon Lane Cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

THOMAS NEW ORLEANSVeronica Jean Griffin Thomas, 58, a native and resident of Ama, died Jan. 16. She was the daughter of the late Jessie Sr. and LizzieCooper Griffin and sister of Clementine Charles, Nelida Harris and John Griffin.

She was a teacher for 38 years.

Services were held Jan. 20 at Greater St. Stephen’s Full Gospel BaptistChurch, New Orleans, with interment at Mt. Pilgrim Cemetery, Ama.

THOMPSON NEW ORLEANSRay Earl “Manny” Thompson, 74, a native of Modeste and resident of St. Rose for 10 years, died Jan. 13. He was the husband ofElnora Thompson by first marriage and Betty Thompson by second marriage and step-father of Patrick, David and Alan Moore.

He was also the son of the late Ceaser and Victoria Thompson and the brother of Lee Burton, Emanuel Nicholas and the late Raymond Nicholas, Ivory Thompson, Lelia Green, Alberta Stewart, Irma Mitchell and Rubirdia Rome.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Third Rose of Sharon Baptist Church, NewOrleans, with interment at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, St. Rose.Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
