Crosslin, Tribble lead all-district team

LAPLACE – A pair of Lutcher Bulldogs headline the District 9-3A all-district team announced recently.
Senior Rusty Crosslin was selected as the district Most Valuable Player.
Crosslin, who played second base and pitched for the Bulldogs, batted .421with four home runs, 18 runs batted in and five stolen bases. On the mound,he went 7-2 with a 2.78 earned run average and 53 strikeouts in 41 1/3innings. Crosslin was selected to the all-district first team as a secondbaseman.
Scott Tribble was named the Coach of the Year. Tribble led the Bulldogs tothe District 9-3A championship in 2000 with a 29-5 record. Lutcheradvanced to the state quarterfinals before falling to Teurlings Catholic.
Joining Crosslin on the first team were teammates Bo Louque, Damian Ursin, Dustin Deslattes, Risley St. Germain and Tray Haydel. Chosen from St.Charles Catholic were Jason LaPorte, Mike Mustian and Nick Monica. Andselected from St. James was Bo Bourgeois.Named to the second team from Lutcher were pitcher Matt Roussel and outfielder Lee Poche. St. Charles Catholic placed pitcher Dustin Braud,catcher Jeremy Triche, first baseman Ricky Madere, third baseman Toby Jacob, outfielder Randy Madere and utility player Jason Waguespack on the second team. St. James had pitcher Seth Folse and utility player ThaddeusSutherland named to the second team.
Honorable mention selections were Ben Martin, Terry Millet and Scott Ocmond of Lutcher and Mitch Cortez, Chris Hymel and Boyd Laurent of St. James.From outside the River Parishes, Class 3A state champion E.D. White hadpitcher Derek Atkins, catcher Jon Zeringue, third baseman Justin Chaisson, outfielders Matt Matis and Allie Waguespack and utility player Derek Hebert named first team. The Cardinals also placed second baseman Trey Hebert,shortstop Evan Matherne and outfielder J.J. Tabor on the second team.Donaldsonville pitcher Dustin Schexnayder, catcher Gavin Blanchard and outfielder Brian Smith made second team all-district. Tate Acosta and JesseZeringue were honorable mention selections.
Louque went 5-1 with a 1.75 ERA for the Bulldogs in 2000, striking out 32batters in 44 innings. Ursin was 10-1 with a 2.47 ERA and 65 strikeouts in44 2/3 innings. Ursin also batted .324 with two home runs and 24 RBIs.Deslattes batted .333 with two home runs and 14 RBIs. St. Germain alsobatted .333 with a team-high seven home runs and 30 RBIs.
