DEAR EDITOR: Father Joseph Rodney and the Thanksgiving and Food Source Committee of Our Lady of Grace Church would like to say thank you to the Lifers’ Association of the Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women, for their help in making Thanksgiving very special for 15 senior citizens and three caregivers. The inmates sold candies to raise money for this project. Theyprovided the money for the dinners that were purchased at the Piccadilly Cafeteria and they also purchased fruit for the fruit baskets.

The inmates decorated the baskets with beautiful autumn flowers and also made beautiful greeting cards for each basket. The baskets were filled witha variety of fruits, candies and toilet articles.

We feel that these inmates deserve a lot of praise for their unselfish act and for making these seniors so happy on a day when we all should be thankful for all of our blessings.

We would also like to thank the volunteers that took time out of their very busy schedules and made the deliveries.
