Hahnville remains perfect

BOUTTE – Hahnville got by a tough first round draw, defeating Sulphur, 24- 14, Friday night at Tiger Stadium.
Hahnville improved to 11-0 with the victory. The Tigers will play St.Augustine in the regionals next week. St. Augustine advanced with a 41-15victory over Higgins Friday. Sulphur finished its season at 6-5.Hahnville gained 311 yards in the game, 199 coming on 37 rushing attempts.
Skyler Boyle led the way with 22 carries for 117 yards and a touchdown.
Dawan Landry added 60 yards and a score on nine carries. He also completed5-of-9 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown.
Sulphur had 301 yards in offense. The Tornadoes had 215 yards rushing on39 carries. Derrick Trahan gained 126 of them on 23 carries. SandersWilliams added 87 yards on 10 attempts. Klint Leblanc completed 7-of-15passes for 86 yards and a touchdown.
Hahnville scored first on a 10-yard run by Boyle with 5:17 left in the first quarter. The lead grew to 14-0 with 10:49 of the second quarter as Landryconnected with Aaron Alexander on a 14-yard scoring pass. Landry added tothat lead with a 52-yard touchdown run, making it 21-0 with 3:41 remaining in the second quarter.
Sulphur got on the scoreboard with a second left in the first half as Jarrett Alshare scored on an 11-yard run, making it 21-7 at the half.
Hahnville got a 22-yard field goal from Matt Cummins with eight minutes left in the third quarter to extend the lead to 24-7. Sulphur scored in the fourthquarter on a nine-yard pass from Leblanc to Raymond Pena.
