Johnson has dream night as Dogs win

LUTCHER – Chris Johnson had one of those nights players dream about Friday against Lawless.

Johnson had 337 yards all-purpose and scored four touchdowns, leading the Bulldogs to a 26-6 victory in the Class 3A bi-district playoffs.

Lutcher (8-3) will play Parkview Baptist in the regionals next week. Parkviewdefeated Port Allen, 61-6, Friday.

Lawless finished its season at 6-5.

Johnson ran nine times for 110 yards and two touchdowns. He also caughtfive passes for 58 yards and another score. In addition, he returned twokickoffs for 107 yards, including an 83-yard touchdown, and four punts for 62 more yards.

Risley St. Germain completed 8-of-16 passes for 82 yards and a touchdown.The Bulldogs finished with 228 yards in offense, 146 on the ground. TheLutcher defense held Lawless in check, giving up just 80 yards passing and four first downs.

The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard in the first quarter on a 19-yard run by Johnson. T.J. Bourgeois added the extra point to make it 7-0 with 9:40 left inthe first quarter.

Lawless pulled to within 7-6 in the second quarter on a 49-yard pass from Ahmad Rainey to Terrance Smothers. The kick failed, leaving Lutcher in thelead with 7:06 left in the half.

Johnson came back with a 42-yard touchdown run. Bourgeois again added theextra point, making it 14-6 with 3:45 remaining in the second quarter.

Johnson would strike again in the final minute of the half, scoring on a 27- yard pass from St. Germain. The kick failed but the Bulldogs took a 20-6 leadwith 41 seconds left.

Johnson started the second half where he left off, taking the opening kickoff 83 yards for the score. The kick failed, making it 26-6 with 11:44 left in thethird quarter.
