Local agencies get art funding

HOUMA – The Houma-Terrebonne Arts and Humanities Council recently granted funding to non-profit organizations in the River Parishes area to support art and cultural programs taking place between Oct. 1, 2000 andSept. 30, 2001.Non-profit organizations apply to the Louisiana Decentralized Arts Funding Program to receive financial support for open-to-the-public art events.
River Parishes groups that received grants are: St. Charles Parish: St. Charles Borromeo School, $2,345; River RoadHistorical Society, $2,940; River Region Drama Guild Inc. $6,000; River RegionBallet Inc. $3,000; Eual J. Landry Middle School, $1,300; St. Charles Art Guild,$2,472 and $1,755; and River Region Ballet Inc. $1,500.St. John Parish: St. John Theater Inc., $2,772; St. John Parish 4-HFoundation, $900; West. St. John Elementary School, $1,411 and $2,406; St.John the Baptist Parish School Board, $1,735; St. Peter Catholic Community,$1,412; St. Peter School $1,394; Our Lady of Grace School, $1,747; John L.Ory Communication Arts Magnet School, $2,050; and St. John the BaptistLibrary, $2,655 and $869.
St. James Parish: St. James School Board, $6,000, and St. James ParishCouncil, $2,857 and $1,210.
The Louisiana Decentralized Arts Funding Program is supported by funds from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council and is administered locally by the Houma- Terrebonne Arts and Humanities Council.
