LUTCHER – The first primary election for Lutcher town alderman for District 2 was held Oct. 7. The special election begins the process for voting in a newalderman after former second district alderman, Buddy Whitney, passed away in April.

Candidates for the election were Jason Amato, Carl Vicknair and Wendy Peytavin. Peytavin had been appointed to finish the term in April.Amato and Vicknair took the lead in the primary. Amato received 363 votes,while Vicknair followed with 209. Though Peytavin is currently the incumbent,by appointment, she received 179 and finished third.

Peytavin will continue on as district two alderman until the general election in November, in which voters will decide between Amato and Vicknair.
