BOUTTE – Remember the season the Houston Astros had to spend weeks on the road because of a national political convention? The Hahnville Tigers know the feeling the Astros must have had.

Hahnville is currently on a four-game road trip that has taken the Tigers from Ponchatoula to Lafayette to Reserve and this week to Raceland. Butroad life has not been an obstacle for the Tigers who have opened a season 4-0 for the first time since 1995.

Hahnville is coming off its biggest test yet, a 23-10 victory at East St.

John in the District 7-5A opener. The Tigers trailed 10-7 at the half butrallied with 16 unanswered points in the second half. The victory was thefirst in the series for the Wildcats since 1996.

East St. John was able to contain quarterback Dawan Landry. Landrycompleted 3-of-13 passes for 38 yards. But the Tigers were able to getthe job done on the ground, rushing for 173 yards on 31 attempts. SkylerBoyle had another 100-yard gain, carrying 11 times for 110 yards and a touchdown. Landry came through on the ground, carrying 1 times for 52yards and a score. Charles Taylor also scored on the ground.Hahnville allowed East St. John to gain 242 yards in offense but forcedfive turnovers. Two of those stopped drives by the Wildcats in Hahnvilleterritory in the first quarter. An interception by Robert Bate early in thethird quarter was the turning point, leading to a 75-yard touchdown run by Boyle to put the Tigers ahead. 13-10. Another interception by Mark Youngset up a field goal by Matt Cummins.

Landry remains one of the top passers in the area, having completed 24- of-52 passes for 361 yards and four touchdowns. Young has 10 of thecatches for 220 yards and two touchdowns.

Hahnville will be facing a Central Lafourche team coming off a 34-7 loss at South Lafourche. The loss dropped the Trojans to 2-2 overall and 0-1 indistrict play.

Central Lafourche is a quicker team than the Trojan squad that went 4-6 last season, 2-4 in District 7-5A play. T.J. Vedros starts at quarterbackwhile Andy Griffin moves from quarterback to wide receiver. Dorion Scottand Al Brown will join Vedros in the backfield as will fullbacks Scott Bellanger and Shane Eschete. The line will be led by Jeff Bacon, LamarWaguespack, Beau Matherne, Jacob Roby and Lee Foret. Brian Vedros is attight end with Jonathan Boudreaux at split end.

Central Lafourche will go out of the 5-3 on defense this season. Foret willbe at nose tackle and will be joined by Terrance Ford, Jacob Chase, Ernie Orgeron, Dayshawn Green and David Skeans. Porche, Bellanger and Eschetewill be at linebacker. The secondary will see Russell Adams, Scott andBrown.

Last season, Central Lafourche came away with a 28-25 victory, holding off a Hahnville rally in the final minute. Landry finished with 150 yardspassing in the game.

Hahnville opens a four-game homestand next week against South Lafourche.
