Brown, who only played football his senior year, was also drafted by the Kansas City Royals to play baseball but chose college instead. “I’m loving it. It’s a chance to meet new people, to get away from home,” said Brown. Brown was the third-leading tackle in district, and brings with him an impressive list of accomplishments for one season of playing including: four solo tackles, three interceptions, three tackles behind the lines, and nine hurries. Athletic Director Ronnie Stephens said it was no surprise that Brown signed with a Division I school. Stephens said Brown had come out for football in the spring and passed the look test, being 6’2″ and 200 pounds. Brown gave another reason competition with fellow East St. John alums. “Williams Adams plays for the University of Southern Mississippi, and Roydell Williams plays for Tulane. It’s a nice group of competitors.”
