St. Josephs alter to be featured

LAPLACE – Ascension of Our Lord Church in LaPlace will once again feature its St. Joseph’s Altar. The Ascension of Our Lord Sons of Joseph group will hold a presentation and their will also be a blessing of the altar March 16 at 2:30 p.m. and the altar will remain open for public viewing until 6 p.m. Addition viewing times are March 17 from 9-11 a.m. and 4:30-7 p.m. and March 18 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Ladies Altar Society will be selling St. Joseph cookies during public viewing times of the altar. The creation of the altar was made possible thanks to students collecting canned goods during Catholic Schools Week. The students will also bring fresh fruits and vegetables and baked goods to be used on the altar. Food used for the altar will be donated to the ministry of care for the needy of the parish. Volunteers of the parish and the Ascension of Our Lord Parent Teacher Organization are assisting with the viewing of the altar. For information call 652-2615. LAPLACE – Xi Gamma Pi sorority announces its next fund-raiser, personalized letters from the Easter Bunny. Anyone interested in receiving a letter should send a check or money order for $2, along with the child’s name and mailing address, to Xi Gamma Pi, 31 Muirfield Drive, LaPlace, LA 70068. The deadline to order letters is March 31. Letters will arrive a week before Easter. Proceeds from this fund-raiser will go to a non-profit charitable organization in LaPlace. LULING – The West Regional Library in Luling is featuring a display entitled Literary Louisiana, which chronicles the lives and work of famous 19th and 20th century authors whose writings have shaped the world’s view of Louisiana and its people. The display will be on display through April 5. RESERVE – St. Peter School is holding a crawfish etouffe dinner March 16 from 5-7 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Dinners are $5 each and will consist of crawfish etoufee, rice, cole slaw, French bread and dessert. Dine-in or take-out will be available. Advance ticket sales must be purchased through the school or call 536-6209, 535-6896 or 417-6975. Deadline to purchase tickets is March 15. Proceeds will benefit St. Peter spring pageantry.
