ARABIE

DESTREHAN – Wilton Joseph “Bob” Arabie, 74, a native of Mathews and resident of Destrehan, died Aug. 9. He was the father of Ramona Faucheux and Randolph and Anthony Arabie.

He was the son of the late Wilton and Annette Robicheaux Arabie and brother of Johnny Arabie.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and an operator at St. Charles Grain Elevator.

Services were Aug. 12 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Destrehan, with interment at the church mausoleum.

BENNETT

NEW ORLEANS – Eula Ash Thomas Bennett, 76, a native of Vacherie and resident of New Orleans for 42 years, died Aug. 9. She was the wife, by first marriage, of Wilmer Thomas and, by second marriage, of Herbert Bennett and mother of Catherine Richards and the late Wilmer Thomas Jr. She was also the companion of Walter Paul.

She was the daughter of the late Isaiah and Mary Ash; adopted daughter of the late Paul and Verina Diggs; and sister of Charles and Leroy Brooks and the late Willie Ann Ash and Lucious Plesant.

She is also survived by four grandchildren.

She was a retired food services worker at Crocker Elementary School.

Services were Aug. 13 at Loving Four Baptist Tabernacle, New Orleans, with interment at Restlawn Park Cemetery, Avondale.

EDWARDS

SLIDELL – Richard L. “Dick” Edwards Sr., 70, a native of Nederland, Texas, and resident of Slidell since 1995, died Aug. 9. He was the husband of Frances Hall Edwards; father of Kathy Shults, Kimberly Stinson, Richard Jr. and Ron Edwards; and stepfather of Robert Hall, Theresa Dousi, Michelle DeRamus, Melinda Fields and Christina Nettles.

He was also the bother of Raymond Edwards.

He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of the Korean War and a commercial construction manager.

Memorial services are Aug. 17 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Honaker Funeral Home, Slidell, with private interment at Biloxi National Cemetery.

FARNELL

EDGARD – Alfred “Moochie” Farnell, 45, a native and resident of Edgard, died Aug. 8. He was the son of Eloise Jarrow Farnell and the late Lucien Farnell Sr. and brother of Latesa Gullage, Kenneth, Vernon Sr., Kirk, James, Wayne, Valerie and Mary Farnell and the late Charles Jarrow and Lucien Jr., Elliot and Monya Farnell.

He was also the grandson of the late Louis and Naomi Jarrow and Alfred and Crozlia Farnell.

Services were Aug. 13 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery.

HERBERT

EDGARD – Brenda Samuel Herbert, 60, a native and resident of Edgard, died Aug. 9. She was the wife of the late Claudell Herbert and mother of Denise Broden, Leola Thomas and Marvel, Terrell and Troy Herbert.

She was the daughter of the late Steve Samuel and Artemise Jacob and sister of John Jacob and Betty and Anthony Samuel.

She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

ORY

NORCO – Earl J. Ory, 84, a native of Garyville and resident of Norco for 55 years, died Aug. 12. He was the husband, by first marriage, of the late Marjorie Berthelot and, by second marriage, of Enola Berthelot Ory; father of Joyce Jacob, Lorraine Fryoux, Catherine Becnel and Richard Ory; and stepfather of Laura Vicknair and Ronald, Donald and Tommy Berthelot.

He was the son of the late Omer and Lucy Thibodeaux Ory and brother of Pearl Berger and the late Omer “Junior,” Joseph, Octave and Roger Ory.

He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and member of American Legion Post 195 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4245. He was a retired operator at Shell Oil.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Norco, with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum, Destrehan. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

RANSON

LUTCHER – Willie “Stormy Weather” Ranson, 84, a native of Paulina and resident of Lutcher, died Aug. 9. He was the husband of the late Sedonia Williams Ranson and father of Willie Mae Woodridge, Irvin Ezidore and Floyd Ranson.

He was the son of the late Joseph and Leanna Webster Ranson and brother of the late Joseph Ranson.

He is also survived by six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Services were Aug. 13 at Israelite Baptist Church, Lutcher, with interment at Antioch Cemetery, Paulina.

STEIB

SOUTH VACHERIE – Erwin Paul Steib, 38, a native of Vacherie and resident of Sacramento, Calif., died Aug. 7. He was the son of Russell and Linda Laurent Steib and brother of Valerie Batiste, Sherrylynn Charles, Yvette Joseph and Reginald, Adrian and Demetries Steib.

He was the grandchild of Simeon and Dorothy Laurent and the late Lazard and Hilda Steib.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, South Vacherie, with private interment.
