EDITORIAL: New hope for Diamond

With the settlement between residents of Diamond Plantation residents and neighboring Shell Chemical on the purchasing of residential properties and assisting in the preservation in the remaining homes, a long-standing dispute seems to finally be settling down.

Now comes the harder part – the healing.

Charges of environmental racism have scarred relations, not only between Diamond residents and Shell but between those residents and their other Norco neighbors, and it will take time for those wounds to heal.

What will help are projects and plans to work together, all the elements of Norco, to rebuild their town, build new community links and restore the brotherhood of Norco.
