Port elects officers

RESERVE – The Port of South Louisiana’s commission recently elected President Louis Joseph to a third consecutive term at the helm.

The seven-member commission which is comprised of representatives from the parishes of St. Charles, St. John, and St. James, unanimously approved the move.

Other commissioners re-elected at the meeting included: Gregory Gravois – vice president, E.J. Martin – treasurer, Lawrence Jackson – secretary, and Bill Hubbard – assistant secretary. The elections are held on an annual basis.

The commission also welcomed a new member during the meeting. Sheila Bonnette was sworn in as the commission’s latest representative from St. Charles Parish. Bonnette is the owner and manager of Choice Title, Inc., a real estate transaction company with offices in Destrehan and LaPlace. She is also a representative for American National Insurance Company and operates a full-service insurance agency in LaPlace.

In addition, Bonnette is a registered investment representative for Securities Management and Research Inc.
