BACON

CLEVELAND, MISS. – Dorothy N. Bacon, 99, a native and resident of Cleveland, Miss., died June 8. She was the wife by first marriage of the late Samuel Wilson Jr. and by second marriage of the late Randolph Bacon, and mother of Marcia Griffis of LaPlace, Alice James, Elizabeth James and Samuel Wilson III.

She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services were June 10 at Calvary Episcopal Church, Cleveland, Miss., with interment at New Cleveland Cemetery.

BOUDREAUX

PONCHATOULA – Rodney Ray Boudreaux, 54, a native of Hammond and resident of St. Rose, died June 8. He was the father of Michelle and Charles Boudreaux.

He was also the son of Betty Mathews Boudreaux, and the late Ray Boudreaux, and brother of Duane and Jeffrey Boudreaux.

Services were June 10 in the chapel of Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, with interment at Ponchatoula City Cemetery.

CRABTREE

LAPLACE – Marie Rome Crabtree, 89, a native of Vacherie and resident of LaPlace for 75 years, died June 8. She was the wife of the late Pete Crabtree, and mother of Kathleen Rodrigue and Gary Crabtree.

She was also the daughter of the late Jean and Elucia Murry Rome, and sister of Ann Salzer, Tomas, Tony, Jean Jr. and Russell Rome, and the late Freida Newcomb, Amy Ockman, Emilia, Eddie, Clincy, Sterling and Edward Rome.

She is also survived by four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services were June 10 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens.

HAYDEL

LAPLACE – Edgar “June” Haydel Jr., 79, a native and resident of LaPlace, died June 9. He was the husband of Zadee Scallan Haydel and father of Mary Goldman, Jane Madere and Kenneth Haydel.

He was also the son of the late Edgar Sr. and Lucette Haydel, and brother of Lucette Hidaldo, Doris Vicknair, and the Aline Holmes, Alma St. Pierre and Rita Gautreaux.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

JONES

LULING – Theodore “Doc” Jones, a native of St. Rose and resident of Paradis, died June 9. He was the father of Kawandra Graham, Anthony, and the late Joseph Jones. He was the significant other of Ethel Cross.

He was also the son of the late Theodore Jones Jr. and Jezebel Chambers Miller, brother of Laura James, Katherine L’Herisse, Gladys Thomas, Isaac and Clarence Miller, and the late Rebecca Robinson, and stepbrother of Ceola Turley, Joseph Taylor, Serina Nelson, Herbert Taylor, and the late Josephine Jones and Carrie Rollins.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Baptist Church, Luling, with interment at St. Rose Cemetery, St. Rose. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.

KELSON

LUTCHER – Bernice Taylor Kelson, a resident of Lutcher, died June 6. She was the wife of Freddie Kelson Jr. and mother of Paul Joseph Jr., Deondra Reynell, Keondra Reynell and Lakeisha Taylor, and stepmother of Breggan Tayulor, Roxanne Washington and LaDaisha Wilson.

She was also the daughter of the late Willie and Annie Smith Taylor, and sister of Exie Payne, Betty Lee, Mary Ann, Willie Mack, Major Lee Taylor and the late Lawrence, Sydle, Samuel, David and Joe Frank Taylor.

She is also survived by 14 grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Joe Missionary Baprtist Church, Lucher, with interment at Golden Wreath Cemetery, Lutcher. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

MORTON

NEW ORLEANS – Alma Jasmine Morton, 88, a native of Vacherie and resident of New Orleans for 68 years, died June 5. She was the mother of Valeria Aquil, Trenia Crier, Shawisha St. Julien, Vanissia Prout, Charles, Glenn and Maurice Morton.

She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was a recipient of a Mayoral Declaration from the City of New Orleans.

Services were June 10 in the chapel of Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home, New Orleans, with interment at St. Luke Cemetery, Vacherie.

TUIRCUIT

LAPLACE – Vallery Toney Tuircuit, 49, a native and resident of Reserve, died June 5. She was the mother of Andrea, Andrietta and Angelle Toney, and Andrew Tuircuit Jr.

She was also the daughter of Rosemary “Ruby” Toney, and the late Pershing “Bunny” Toney Sr., and sister of Mala Taylor, Terry Jones, Alana Griggs and Pershing Toney Jr.

Services were June 11 at New Wine Christian Fellowship Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.

MADERE

LAPLACE – Margaret Madere, 83, a native of Germany, longtime resident of LaPlace and resident of Humbolt. Tenn. for the last 10 years, died June 5.

She was the wife of the late Clancy Madere, and mother of Clancy and Robert Madere.

She was also the daughter of the late Ewald and Katarina Heibel.

She is also survived by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial services are June 19 at 11 a.m. at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.

MATTHEWS-RAINES

VACHERIE – Judy Ann Matthews-Raines, 53, a resident of Vacherie, died June 7. She was the wife of Lawrence Raines, mother of Denise Baldwin, Michelle Dupre, Marsha Dupre and Stephanie Matthews, and stepmother of Sandra Raines.

She was also the daughter of the late Landry and Pauline Dumas, and sister of Theresa Matthews-Plummer, Catherine Washington and Jackie Lovelace, and the late Eddie Dumas.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Graveside services are today at 11 a.m. at Second Baptist Church Cemetery, Vacherie.
