St. Charles Operations recently contributed $43,000 to the LA Technical College Reserve Campus to benefit the Process Technology (PTEC) Training Tower. The PTEC training tower allows students real-time training, and includes a vessel for lock-out / tag-out procedures, confined space entry and safe working procedures at elevated levels. This tower will provide a hands-on learning experience for individuals pursuing a two-year associate degree in the field of process technology.
In addition, Dow utilizes the Reserve campus for its new-hire training program and orientation. It is tailored to the needs at SCO, and assists with the training and focus of new employees to critical skills necessary to be successful.
Dennis Murphy, director of the River Parishes Technical College Reserve Campus, said, “The PTEC program is an advantage for the entire industry. The skills taught in the PTEC curriculum are applicable to many petrochemical manufacturing sites in the river corridor. It’s a winning situation for everyone involved.”
