ALLEN
EDGARD – Earline “Neen” Marie Edwards Allen, 66, a native and resident of Edgard, died May 8. She was the wife of the late Welmond Allen Sr., mother of Glenn Edwards, Gerold Jolly, Rhondalyn, Edwards, Nicole Allen, Lynette James, Randell Allen, Renee Roussell and Welmond Allen Jr., and stepmother of Nedra Allen.
She was also the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Elsie Roussell Edwards, and sister of Margaret Morris, Gustavia Bailey, Florence Brimmer, Ernestine Tuckerson, Tyronne, Allen, Clarence and Murray Edwards, Cheryl Louper, Elsie Jones, Constance Grows and the late Ferdinand Edwards Jr.
She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
BANTA
PLAQUEMINE – Adrian George “Ady” Banta Jr., 38, a native of Plaquemine and resident of Gramercy, died May 11. He was the father of Ashley Tullier, Keith and Adrian Banta III and Nicholas Peavy.
He is also the son of George Banta, and the late Elizabeth Echols, stepson of Karen Banta and brother of Della Kelley and Maurice Banta.
He was chief engineer of The Riley Elizabeth riverboat.
Services were May 14 in the chapel of Wilbert Funeral Home, Plaquemine, with interment at Grace Memorial Park.
BOUDREAUX
MARRERO – Malvin J. Boudreaux Sr., 63, a native of Raceland and resident of Paradis for 30 years, died May 7. He was the husband of Marian Parks Boudreaux and father of Bambi Harrell, Dana Folse, Barry, Garry, Don Paul, Malvin Jr. and Shane Boudreaux Sr.
He was also the brother of Myra Trahan, Sarah Bumbarden and Kerry Bernard.
He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services were May 12 in the chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, Marrero, with interment at Sunset Cemetery, Bayou Gauche.
CANDIES
DES ALLEMANDS – Agnes Hatty Candies, 87, a native of New Orleans and resident of Des Allemands, died May 11. She was the wife of the late Otto Candies, and mother of Otto Jr., Paul and Kevin Candies.
She was also the daughter of the late Paul and Blanche Hogan Hatty, and sister of Alice Kinsey.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by one grandchild.
Services were May 13 at Assembly of God Church, Des Allemands, with interment at Lake Lawn Cemetery, New Orleans.
FALGOUST
VACHERIE – Freddy J. Falgoust Sr., 86, a native and resident of Vacherie, died May 13. He was the husband of the late Elodie Schexnayder Falgoust, and father of Edna Folse, Evelie Gravois and Freddy Falgoust Jr.
He was also the son of the late Bienvenue and Laura Falgoust, and brother of Frank and J.B. Falgoust., and the late Laura Rome, Amelie Rome, Bruce, Lloyd, Leonard and Robert Falgoust.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, South Vacherie, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
FRANCIS
EDGARD – Willie Francis Sr., 68, a native of Napoleonville and resident of Edgard, died May 6. He was the father of Denise Lewis, Wayne, Dennis, Michael and Willie Francis Jr.
He was also the brother of Ruby Lee Neal, Annie Reed, Effie Price, Lula Mae Jackson, Ervin Mitchell, Ernest Joseph, Lloyd Thomas and Royal Francis.
He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Baptist Church, with interment at Young Cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
HYMEL
VACHERIE – Lynn Gerald Hymel, 73, a native of Wallace and resident of Vacherie, died May 11. He was the husband of Barbara Gayle Gendron Hymel and father of May Lynne, Susan Condon, Danielle “Dee Dee” Dubreuil, Daniel and Edward Hymel. He is preceded in death by an infant son.
He was also the son of the late Maurice Sr. And Anna Tregre Hymel, and brother of Stella “Sis” Folse, Katherine Vincent, Mary, Maurice Jr., Lester, Francis and Raymond “Pete” Hymel, and the late Maisy Becnel.
He is also survived by 12 grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Army sergeant during the Korean Conflict, a member and stockholder of First South Production Credit since 1956, a member and stockholder of St. James Sugar Cooperative since 1965 and president of M. Hymel and Son Inc. Since 1973 and a member of the American Sugar Cane League and the Knigths of Columbus for 50 years.
Services were May 13 at St. Philip Catholic Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church mausoleum.
JOHNSON
EDGARD – Rose Agnes Young Johnson, 51, a native of New Orleans and resident of Edgard, died May 11. She was the wife of James Johnson Jr., mother of James III, Dwayne and Christopher Johnson, and stepmother of Fernell Williams.
She was also the daughter of Lorraine Roussell Young, and the late Ferdinand Young Sr., and sister of Anna Smith, Patricia Joseph, Joyce Pierce, Sharon, Lonnie, Ronald and Grant Young.
She is also survived by four grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Pilgrim Baptist Church, Edgard, with interment at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Edgard. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
NICHOLAS
ST. JAMES – Eddie J. Nicholas, 77, a native and resident of St. James, died May 12. He was the husband of Anna Belle Nicholas and father of Nina Nailor, Charmaine Williams and Lucretia Nicholas.
He was also the son of the late Clifford and Gustavia B. Nicholas, and brother of Stella Johnson, Eddis, Clifford and Lawrence Nicholas.
He is also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired custodian for St. James High School.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, St. James, with interment at the church mausoleum. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
