St. John

BAILEY

NEW SARPY – Dorothy Brooks Bailey, 56, a native and residence of New Sarpy died on March 1.

She was the mother of Mark, Miguel, April and Karen Bailey, Michelle B. Carter, and the late Sharon Bailey.

She also was the daughter of the late Florence and Joseph Brooks and the sister of the late Earnest, Melvin and Edward Brooks.

She is survived by six grandchildren.

Services were March 4 at 11 a.m. at House of Prayer Baptist Church, New Sarpy, with interment at Montz Memorial Park Cemetery, Montz.

Champagne

LAPLACE – Gilberta Millet Champagne, 105, a native of Lions and a resident of Reserve died March 3.

She was the wife of the late O.J. Champagne, Sr. and mother of Dr. Lloyd Paul Champagne, Carl P. Champagne, Diane C. Tregre and the late O.J. Champagne, Jr.

She also was the daughter of the late Albert and Honorine Perilloux Millet. and the sister of Lillie Mae Cashio.

She is survived by 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Services are today at noon in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.

COLFER

GARYVILLE – Beulah Corine Steib Clofer, 89, a native of Vacherie and a resident of Garyville died March 2.

She was the wife of the late Algernon Clofer, Sr., and the mother of the Harold Clofer, Lanne Haywood Clofer, Milton Clofer, Velma Poche, Betty Love, Hazel Clofer and Eva Sealy.

She was also the daughter of the late Corine Cooper Steib and Leonard Steib, and the sister of Henry Steib, Ulysses Steib, Melvin Winchester, Leona Pierre, Lorraine Jack and the late Leonard Steib.

She is survived by a host of grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren.

Services are today at noon at True Light Baptist Church, Garyville, with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.

GIBSON

RESERVE – Brian Keith Gibson Sr., 46, a native and resident of Reserve, died Feb. 27.

He was the father of Brian Gibsom Jr. and Austin Gibson.

He was also the brother of Barry Gibson, Kelvin Gibson, Michael Phoenix, Byron Phoenix, Bridget Ketchens, Robyn Basile, and Tonya Burch.

Services were March 5 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions.

LANDRY

LULING – Rita Mae “Sister” Ourso Landry, 80, a native of Luling and a resident of LaPlace died Feb. 29.

She was the mother of Lucille “Cookie” Worsham, Carol Sue “Crissy” Bishop, Dale Landry, and Kevin Landry.

She is survived by 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were March 5 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Luling.

LUMAR

EDGARD – Teresa “Tee-Tee” Gauthier Lumar, 37, a native and resident of Edgard died Feb. 28.

She was the wife of Carl Lumar and the mother of Malika Gauthier.

She also was the daughter of Josepha and George Gauthier and the sister of Joan, Dale, Darren, Lora, Anthony, Sr., Ronald and Donald Gauthier, and the late George Wright.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard with interment in the church cemetary. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

MITCHELL

EDGARD – Herman (Son) Mitchell Sr., 72, a native and resident of Edgard, died March 3.

He was the husband of the late Gertie Mitchell, and the father of Beverly Mitchell Lumar, Mary Mitchell and Herman Mitchell, Jr.

He was also the son of the late Sidney and Josephine Borne Mitchel, and the brother of Oleander Joseph, Christine Pierre, Willie Mitchell, and the late Simon, Sidney, Ramos and Paul Mitchell, Emily Augusta and Marie Edwards.

He is survived by seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services were March 5 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery.

SEHER

LAPLACE – Rosa Marie Seher, 67, a native of Widen, Germany, a former resident of Metairie, and a resident of Reserve, died March 1.

She was the wife of George Seher and the mother of Ricky Knight, Sandy Iolia, Robert Howell, and Anthony Seher.

She was also the sister of the late Ernia Ortiz.

She is survived by one grandchild.

Services were March 4 at 7 p.m. at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace.
