Bulldogs defeat

St. John in

tournament

The Lutcher Bulldogs defeated St. John to win the St. John Tournament on Saturday. LHS standout Gerard Landry finished the game collecting 23 points. Lutcher, who improved to 9-7 with the victory, led 40-27 at halftime. In addition, Lutcher did not score fewer than 20 points in any of the four quarters.

Lutcher returns to action Friday when they travel to Vandebilt Catholic.

Rebels pick up first disctrict win over Fisher

In a defensive battle, the Riverside Academy Lady Rebels picked up its first 10-2A win of the season in a 34-19 victory over Fisher in Fisher. Overall, the Lady Rebels have a record of 2-16. Riverside led 3-2 at the end of the first quarter and held a 13-6 halftime lead.

The loss dropped Fisher to 1-5 on the season.

Lady Eagles defeat White Castle

The Reserve Christian Lady Eagles also knocked off White Castle Friday night in Reserve. Trenell Smith finished the game with 32 points, while Trenese Smith added 21 points in the 61-55 victory. The win lifted Reserve Christian’s record to 17-7 overall. The Lady Eagles held a commanding 36-17 lead at halftime.

In addition, White Castle was held to only seven points in the second quarter.

WSJ Rams pound SCC Comets in

non-district game

The West St. John Rams pounded St. Charles Catholic in a non-district contest Friday afternoon. Behind Quinn Johnson’s 13 points, the Rams defeated the Comets 73-46. Josh Lumar added 10 points in the victory for the Rams. Michael Troglen finished with 13 points for St. Charles Catholic, while Michael Bowen also contributed with 13.

The victory lifted the Rams record to 11-3 on the year.

Lady Rams fall to St. Martin’s

The West St. John girls team did not have as good luck as the boys team did Friday night. The Lady Rams dropped their first district game of the season in a 44-30 defeat against St. Martin’s in Edgard. West St. John did not score more than 10 points in three of the four quarters.

In addition, they were outscored 15-4 in the first quarter.oints in a losing effort.

All-Star basketball camp accepting

applications

Applications are now being evaluated for the Ten Star All-Star Summer Basketball Camp. The camp is by invitation only and is for boys and girls ages 10-19. Players from 50 states and 11 foreign countries attended the 2003 camp. College basketball scholarships are possible for players selected to the All-American Team.
