HAHNVILLE — Nobody can question the record of success for Hahnville volleyball coach Mendi LeBoeuf.

In 11 years of coaching the club, she has guided the team to the state playoffs 10 times.

But heading to the Division I state tournament at the Pontchartrain Center on Thursday, where Hahnville plays McDonough 35 in a regional playoff game, LeBoeuf would like to see the team take the next step.

“We’ve made the tournament a number of times, but never have been able to get past the regional game,” she said. “Obviously we would like to do that this year.”

The challenge for Hahnville, the district 10-5A runnerups, will be a great one, however.

McDonough 35 is the third ranked team in the state, presenting a great obstacle for the Lady Tigers.

“They are very athletic, so the key for us is to stay in the game by controlling the tempo,” LeBoeuf said. “If we pass well, I think we can give them a close game.”

Hahnville won its bi-district playoff match over Lafayette on Friday night, 25-22, 25-23, 25-19.

Leading the team into the state regional playoff game will be starters Marquita Hill, Kaswana Isaac, Whitney Scott, Sasha Leech, Shunta Isaac and Ashonte Pryer, with Kelly Robbins the top reserver off the bench.

Hahnville is 24-11 overall on the season.
