RESERVE – Get to the Reserve Christian Gym early on Monday night.

The undefeated Eagles will have their toughest game of the season in taking on the 5A Shaw Eagles in what promises to be an outstanding matchup for the fans to watch.

Reserve took a 7-0 record into their game on Friday night, which was expected to be another win for the Eagles as they played the same Gables team they beat by nearly 50 points earlier in the week.

But on Monday, the unbeaten streak for coach Timmy Byrd’s team will get tested from a Shaw team which has high hopes this year.

“We are probably getting picked in the bottom half of the Catholic League this year, but I’m telling you we have a very good chance to make the playoffs,” second year head coach Bill Gallagher said. “And the game against Reserve Christian should be a great one since we play similar, up tempo basketball.”

Gallagher was scouting the team last week and admitted to being impressed with the Reserve Christian program, which is only class-B, but plays many top 5A teams.

“This is a team that is just as good as any team in the Catholic League, no matter what class they are,” Gallagheer remarked. “It will be a great challenge for our kids to slow them down. They have some great offensive players, but we are probably the most athletic team in our district and I think we are going to surprise many people this year.”

Shaw will be led by 6-5 senior Chris Davis, getting plenty of Division I recruitment this year, while the rest of the top players will be Ryan DeRousselle, Jeremy Bailey and Raynard Casimier.
