Senate candidate forum scheduled by Chamber

RESERVE – The first U.S. Senate candidate forum sponsored by the River Region Chamber of Commerce is set Oct. 12, at the Louisiana Technical College campus in Reserve.

The event will begin at 6 p.m.

Key issues expected to be discussed with the candidates include coastal erosion, the Interstate 49 corridor, energy policy and the still-pending connection of the Veterans Memorial Bridge in Gramercy to La. Highway 3127 on the West Bank of St. John Parish.

Confirmed candidates include David Vitter, Arthur Morrell, John Kennedy and Richard Fontenesi.

According to Chamber Chairman Conley Dutreix, a forum is also being planned for the U.S. House of Representatives race in spring 2005.
