CAMBRE
RESERVE – Herbert “Blue” Cambre Jr., 74, a native and resident of Reserve, died Oct. 8. He was the husband of Shirley W. Cambre and father of Tessa Arceneaux and Tanza Hamilton.
He was also the son of the late Herbert Cambre Sr. and Louise Humphrey Gray and stepson of the late Albert Gray, and brother of Mary Mack, Anthony Cambre, and the late Mary Pollard, Vernon and Edward Cambre.
He is also survived by four grandchildren.
Services were Oct. 14 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.
DUMAS
VACHERIE – Edwin Dumas, 75, a native of Vacherie and resident of New Orleans for 55 years, died Oct. 11. He was the brother of Lillie Lewis, Marie Oubre, Lucille Steib, Edward and Henry Dumas.
Services were Oct. 15 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church cemetery.
DUMAS
VACHERIE – Whitney P. “Buckwheat” Dumas Sr., 78, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Oct. 12. He was the husband of Leona S. Dumas and father of Mary Smith, Sally Westley, Cynthia Himes, Alien Ferchaud, Nicholas, Whitney Jr., Harvey, Matthew, Timothy and Brian Dumas, and the late Marie Rose Dumas.
He was also the son of the late Paul and Rose Dumas, and brother of Wilbourine Steib, Mary Freeman, Celeste James, Paul, Russell and Anthony Dumas, and the late Agnes Wooden, Victoria Simon, Harry, John and Haywood Dumas.
He was a retired employee at Avondale Shipyards and also a member of the Good Children Society, American Legion Post 565 and Knights of Columbus Council 161.
Services were Oct. 15 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church cemetery.
GAUTREAUX
LAPLACE – Vera Mitchell Gautreaux, 61, a native of New Orleans and resident of LaPlace for the past year, died Oct. 13. She was the mother of Annette Breaux, Faith Stout, Vera Colon, Julie Gautreaux, and the late Joseph Gautreaux.
She was also the daughter of the late Dewey and Geneva Mitchell, and sister of Troy and Jerry Mitchell.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren.
Services were Oct. 15 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.
GREEN
BOUTTE – Leona Johnson Green, 94, a native of Boutte and resident of Luling, died Oct. 7. She was the wife of the late Edward Green Sr., and mother of Marion Mack, Gladys Simmons, Carrie Elizey, Edward Jr., Paul, David, Timothy, Alex, and the late Rita, George and James Green.
She was also the sister of the late Albert Dorsey, Viola Dukes, Cecelia Williams, Frankie, Mary, Johnny and Arthur Johnson.
She is also survived by 29 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren and 40 great-great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 10 a.m., at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Boutte, with interment at Mt. Airy Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
INNESS
VACHERIE – Francis Conrad Inness, 74, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Oct. 12.
He was the father of Cindy Waguespack, and the late Sonia Gravois.
He was also the son of the late Rose McGowan Simon and John Inness, and brother of Emerante Triche and Elizabeth “Betty” Tabor, and the late John “Mac” and Tracy Inness.
He is also survived by 11 grandchildren.
He was a production manager at Universal Match in St. Rose for more than 30 years and is a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Memorial services were Oct. 14 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church cemetery.
NORRIS
JACKSON, MISS. – John Thomas Norris, 43, a native of Norfolk, Va., and resident of LaPlace, died Oct. 6.
He was the husband of Karen Norris, father of Jessica, Joshua and Jason Norris, and stepfather of Kimberly Pratchett and Zachary Eaton.
He was also the son of Bettye, and the late John Marshall Norris, and brother of Susan Patton.
He is also survived by two step-grandchildren.
He was employed by Constar Plastics Inc.
Services were Oct. 14 in the chapel of Lakewood Funeral Home, Jackson, Miss., with interment at Lakewood Memorial Park.
