Riverside
The Riverside Academy Lady Rebels knocked off West St. John, 25-5, 26-8, 25-9 last Tuesday afternoon in Edgard. Daphne Zimmer led the Lady Rebels attack with 11 digs and two assists. Meanewhile, Sally Songy led the Lady Rebels with six aces in the district 5-IV match. Riverside upped their record to 12-10 on the season, while West St. John remained winless in district play.
The Rebels will play at home today against St. Charles Catholic.
Destrehan
The Destrehan Lady Fighting Wildcats struggled against Grace King Tuesday afternoon, losing 25-15, 25-22, 25-19, at home. Brittany Simmons led the Lady Irish with 12 kills and six aces in the victory for Grace King. Marian Muhammad added 26 assists in the victory.
The Lady Fighting Wildcats face East St. John Tuesday afternoon in a crucial District 7-I match in Reserve.
Hahnville
The Hahnville Lady Tigers took over first place with a 27-25, 14-25, 25-17, 25-12 victory over Higgins Tuesday afternoon in Boutte. Marquita Hill led the Lady Tigers with 14 kills, while Whitney Scott had 11 kills and Kaswanna Isaac had 10 in the team’s 19th victory on the season. The Lady Tigers are currently in first place with a 4-0 record. On Thursday, the Lady Tigers defeated Ehret, 25-9, 25-10, 25-11. Sasha Leech led Hahanville with 31 assists and seven digs in their district match.
West St. John
A long and difficult season continued for the West St. John Lady Rams Thursday afternoon in Edgard. The Lady Rams fell to Port Sulphur, 25-11, 25-13, 25-17, in Edgard. West St. John was led by Thia Pierre, who finished with five kills and seven assists in the loss. Randacia Mackey had 15 kills and five aces for Port Sulphur. Alexis Billiot had 12 assists. Port Sulphur improved to 13-0 on the season, while West St. John fell to 0-14 on the season. West St. John will play St. Martin’s Tuesday.
St. James
The St. James Lady Wildcats fell to 0-5 in district with a 25-13, 25-19, 11-25, 25-23 defeat against St. Charles Catholic Thursday afternoon in Vahcerie. Angelle Cupit led the Lady Comets attack with nine kills and 26 digs in the victory for St.
Charles.
