In a very competitive district, you cannot afford to get too far behind.
The Riverside girls basketball team is learning that first hand.
The Rebels fell to 5-11 overall but more importantly 3-3 in district play after a 40-26 loss to Redeemeer-Seton.
Amber Shepard was the lone bright spot for the Rebels as she led the team with 12 points.
“They were able to make a bunch of free throws early on and basically we could not get anything going offensively,” Riverside head coach Jody LeBlanc said. “Their ability to hit some key free throws early on allowed them to widen the gap and come away with the victory. We just could not recover.
“We couldn’t get our offense going and they were able to, especially in the second quarter and that was key.”
After taking on Buras, the Rebels look to get back on the winning track Tuesday when they welcome Fisher to Riverside gym.
