RESERVE – St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office is asking for the community’s help in a local burglary.
Public Information Officer Maj. Mike Tregre with the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office said investigation is continuing with the burglary of Lasseigne Metal Buildings owner Jimmy Lasseigne’s home on June 28 in Reserve.
“We are continuing the investigation,” Tregre said. “We need help from the community on this, because we are still seeking information that will lead us to the burglars who committed aggravated burglary and aggravated battery.”
This was the second burglary at Lasseigne’s home within six months.
The first burglary happened when the family was not home, the second while they were sleeping.
Lasseigne said the two African-American men came in while he was sleeping and beat him in the arm with a 12-inch garden hoe, while demanding money.
Lasseigne told the two men where the money was and then they used a cell phone cord and a clock cord to tie him and his wife up before they left.
“The two men escaped with an undisclosed amount of money and jewelry,” said Tregre. “If anyone has any information please contact the Sheriff’s Office at (985)652-6338 or (985)652-2773.”
