Sunday night assassination follows dropping off customer

LAPLACE — A 30-year-old LaPlace Limousine company owner was murdered Sunday night in Cambridge.

St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call at 7:51 p.m. on Saturday night advising that someone had been shot.

“Officials arrived at the scene on the corner of English Colony and the 600 block of Penn Drive and found the victim lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds,” said. Maj. Mike Tregre, spokesman for the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office. “He was transported to River Parishes Hospital and pronounced dead at 8:22 p.m.”

The victim was identified as Albert “Al” Tebault, 30, a limousine company owner of LaPlace, according to Tregre.

“We were later informed that Tebault was standing outside of his limo, having a conversation with another individual,” Tregre said. “A car pulled up that Tebault recognized and he tried to run. The passenger of the car got out and started firing at Tebalt.”

The passenger reportedly stood over Tebault and continued to fire shots at him, after he had fallen to the ground.

“It was reported that two black males were in the car, identified as a silver four-door vehicle,” Tregre said.
