RESERVE – The Lady Rebels continued their winning ways this week with wins over Ponchatoula, Reserve Christian and Loranger this week on their way to their 15th win through 17 regular season games for an eight game lead in district .
It’s a start that may have come as a surprise to some other teams in district 10-2A, but not Riverside coach Toni Miano.
“There are no surprises with our 15-2 record,” she said. “We are exactly where I anticipated we would be for the beginning of the season…. We just have to continue working hard to prepare for our challenging schedule ahead.”
Last Tuesday Riverside was another away match for the Lady Rebels, a win in three games over Reserve Christian’s Lady Eagles by scores of 25-9, 25-16 and 25-9.
Nicole Martin had a team high six digs in the match while Ashley Heckathorn and Millet led the Rebel offensive with 11 kills each.
Millet also played big for Riverside in last Saturday’s
contest when she recorded 11 kills in a home match against Ponchatoula. There, the Lady Rebels got the win in three games by scores of 25-13, 25-17, 25-13. Heidi Garcich had six digs and five aces while Nicole Poirrier had 20 assists for Riverside.
The string of wins sets the Lady Rebels up to finish up the month before entering district play on their schedule on Oct. 5. Next up, Riverside has a pair of home games scheduled against St. Amant and Ascension Catholic.
