LaPlace Pride takes Super Series American Division

Pride Baseball won the Super Series American Division 14- Under World Series Championship held July 22 – 29 at the Fountain Bluff Sports Complex in Liberty, Missouri. The Pride, a travel team of select 14 – year olds from LaPlace, Lutcher, Independence, Ponchatoula, Loranger, and Mandeville, secured the No.1 seed heading into the double elimination championship round, winning all 3 of their pool games. They received an opening round bye in championship play and then went unbeaten (8-0) to finish the series with wins against the Texas Blues, Georgetown Cats, Tulsa Giants (twice), and Texas Aztecs.

The Pride had four players selected to the All-Tournament team. Austin

Roussel was named the tournament’s most Valuable Player. Other All-Tourney picks were Nick Reine, Elisha Settoon, and J. T. Trapani. Pride, coached by former LSU and Ponchatoula star pitcher Hunter Gomez and managed by Jacob Trapani, won the Louisiana state championship in June as well as seven other tournament titles this year.
