The Wildcats Reserve Post might not have gotten the results in American Legion’s district II this season, but new head baseball coach Ryan Sims says that they’re headed in the right direction.

&#8220This is a process,” he said, &#8220we just have to put in our time out here and on the practice field and let these guys get into a rythym. It might not look good all the time right now, but we’re heading in the right direction. They just need that playing time together.”

After finishing up the regular season with a loss to John Curtis, the Wildcats ended their season at 2-10 and missed the playoffs. But the team is not without talent. Seniors-to-be Stephen Haniford, Mackail Singleton and Davarian Ursin, along with Kendrick Sentimore all bring something to the table for this team.

&#8220We’ve got some of them stepping up already,” said Sims of his veterans. &#8220As for their performance, we just need to get that consistency. But we also need them to step up as leaders and show this team where they can be if they just buy into our game plan.”

Sims said that despite their season record, his team can use the experience to provide a foundation that can be built upon.

&#8220It’s growing pains man,” he said. &#8220We’ve got to go through some of these things on our way to getting better. But our plans here are nothing short of returning this school to the glory days that they had not all that long ago. But that takes a little time.”
