BATON ROUGE – LaRon Landry, a three-time all-Southeastern Conference safety, has decided to return to LSU for his senior season, he announced on Monday.

Landry, who led LSU in tackles as both a freshman and sophomore, earned first team all-conference honors in 2005 after recording 69 tackles and a team-high three interceptions for the fifth-ranked Tigers. Landry also earned third-team All-America honors in 2005 from the Associated Press.

&#8220I’m thrilled with LaRon’s decision to return to LSU,” head coach Les Miles said on Monday. &#8220LaRon has obviously accomplished a great deal during his career, but he feels as if there is still more to do, both on the field and in the classroom.

&#8220LaRon is a player that brings great deal to our football team in terms of his ability on the field, but he’s also a guy who is a leader and someone that other players on this team look up to. This is certainly exciting and it gives us a nice boost as we start our preparation for spring football.”

In three years with the Tigers, Landry has played in 39 games with 35 starts. As a freshman in 2003, Landry started 10 games for the national champion Tigers.

Landry finished his rookie season with a team-best 80 tackles on his way to earning first-team Freshman All-America honors from the Football Writer’s Association of America.

A year later in 2004, Landry was a second-team all-SEC pick after racking up 92 tackles and four interceptions for the 9-3 Tigers.

For his career, Landry has recorded 241 tackles, 12.5 tackles for losses, seven sacks and nine interceptions.
