Riverside girls’ soccer Coach Daniel Waguespack just feels like his team is an aggressive streak away from having it all.
The Rebels’ had a number of opportunities on Tuesday, but could not ward off their third loss of the season, 5-1 at home to Chapelle.
Heidi Garcich scored the team’s lone goal on a penalty kick in the second half.
“Chapelle’s a good, young team that played really well,” said Waguespack. “Our girls had some really good opportunities though. Their goalkeeper was very good, and that kept them ahead in the game.”
Chapelle led 2-0 at halftime.
Waguespack praised the efforts of Garcich, Shelby DeSlatte and Jenny LeBlanc for helping to generate the Rebel offense.
But Waguespack thought the defense needed to improve, and hopes to see a slightly different attitude going forward.
“We just weren’t aggressive enough. That’s it,” said Waguespack. “If we’d just be more aggressive, if we’d just do that, we’d have the complete package.”
Riverside will host Independence on Monday at 5 p.m.
