LAPLACE – A gunman looking for something a little sweeter than ice cream robbed a local Baskin-Robbins store Wednesday night, according to St. John police.
Maj. Mike Tregre, spokesperson for the St. John Sheriff’s Office, said the robbery occurred around 6:40 p.m. when a 5-foot-8-inch-tall black male entered the store, located at 1316 W. Airline Hwy.
Tregre said the gunman, who was dressed in a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans and weighs about 150 pounds, approached the counter and demanded money from the employee behind the register. The employee then proceeded to hand the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash from the register.
The suspect then fled the store, proceeding in the direction of Ormond Boulevard. Anyone with any information on the incident is asked to call the Sheriff’s office at 985-652-9514.
