Louisiana ProStart Invitational

Recently, the Satellite Center’s Culinary Arts workcenter competed in the 2008 Louisiana State ProStart Student Invitational at the Morial Convention Center. Four team members and one alternate competed: Jody Clay (Destrehan High), Megan Cortez (Hahnville High), Rickey Flippin (Destrehan High), Casey Gagliano (Destrehan High) and Stephanie Granier (Hahnville High). Team members scores were based on food quality, knife skills, sanitation and proper food handling, and organization and teamwork. They were required to complete a three course meal in one hour using only two butane burners.

Their menu consisted of a lobster BLT, pan seared red snapper with a creole risotto, and strawberry mint bisque with a strawberry fritter.
