The Lion’s Club of LaPlace and Reserve are collaborating to host their 6th Annual Lions Charity Golf Tournament, which will take place at Riverlands Country Club on Sunday, April 6.

The tournament will have a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

Proceeds will be used locally to help St. John Parish citizens throughout two main projects, the Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation and the Lions Crippled Children Camp.

“It’s 100% for charity,” said John Braun, the tournament’s event coordinator and the president of ACT Tech. “All proceeds from the event are going to a good cause.”

Registration for the event, which is sponsored by the Lion’s Club of both LaPlace and Reserve, will begin at 11:30 a.m. on the day of the tourney.

Entry fee for a four-man team is $400. A player can pay a fee of $100 for himself, and be added to a team.

The Lion’s Club is also accepting Hole sponsors. Each sponsor sign will be $75.

Contests in the tourney will also include long drive, closest to the hole, and putting. Gifts and door prizes will be awarded, including a printer and a television.

Braun says that if the golf isn’t enough of a draw, the good food at the event should put it over the top as an attraction.

“We’re going to have some great food, some just super food there,” he said. “It’ll be the same as we had last year, but only better.”

Fatty’s Restaurant will be among those preparing the food for the event. Custom Abrasives of Houma will also supply food for the event.
