During the trip to Turtle Cove which is Southeastern University’s Environmental Research Station, students were able to take a close look at the old Manchac Pass Lighthouse that was built in 1859. It was originally built over 100 yards inland and had pastures for cows and chickens. It is now surrounded by water and is at least two football fields away from the nearest land.
