Bartholomew
Antoine “Snake” Bartholomew Jr., a native and resident of Edgard on Wednesday, September 17, 2008, at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. Son of Wilhemina and Antoine Bartholomew Sr., brother of Darlene, Bonnie Bartholomew, Tonja Wilson (Elton), Timolin Johnson (Hugh), all from Houston Texas, Ray Bartholomew (Sharon), Harvey, Jonah Bartholomew (Tomeka), Edgard. Devoted nephew of Flora Champagne and Gilbert Bartholomew. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Age 52.
Visitation and services were held on Friday, September 19, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edgard. Interment in church cemetery.
Dykes
Joe Dykes passed away on Friday, September 12, 2008, at 11:30 p.m. Former spouse of Lucille Dykes. Father of Donald Dykes, Deborah “Debbie” Badeaux and her husband Chris. Son of the late Vardie Dykes and Victoria Ivey Dykes. Brother of Wayne Dykes, Myrtle Cooley, Avis Shaw, Mary Lou Creel, Ann Gilmore and the late James Arthur Dykes and Bonnie Lee Dykes. Grandfather of Chris, Amber and Brandon Dykes. A native of Richton, Miss., and a resident of Luling for 40 years.
Visitation and services were on Wednesday, September 17 at West St. Charles Baptist Church in Boutte. Interment in St. Charles Cemetery in Luling.
Green
Joseph Green at Dekalb Medical Center in Decatur, Ga., at 6:00 a.m., September 6, 2008. Son of the late Marshall McKinley and Nellie Green. Brother of Mary McKinley Gauthreaux, Geraldine (Richard) Carter and Phyllis Green. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Age 60.
Visitation and services were held at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Convent on Wednesday, September 17. Interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Convent.
Lee
John Lee on Sunday, September 14, 2008, at East Jefferson Hospital. Son of the late Ozella and Gird Lee. Stepson of Mary Williams Lee. Husband of Doris Charles. Father of Cindy, Valerie, John and Fredrick Alexander, Dwenda, Wayland and Howard Charles, Latrice Lee Mashia, Yolanda Lee, Tamieka Lee and the late Sandra Alexander. Brother of Isaac Lee, Martin Lee, Donald Lee and the late Onus Lee and Joel Lee. Also survived by 37 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Age 71 years. A native of Mindenhall, Miss., and a resident of St. Rose.
Visitation and services were held at Fifth African Baptist Church in St. Rose on Friday, September 19. Interment in New Sarpy Cemetery.
Louque
Fay Walker Louque, born May 13, 1938, died September 15, 2008. Age 70. Beloved wife of Warren J. Louque. Mother of Kim Marie Louque and Hollie Louque Ericksen of Destrehan. Mother-in-law of Kevin Ericksen and grandmother of Ashley and Matthew Ericksen. Sister of Catherine Walker Dufresne of Norco, Diane Walker Johnson of Cumming, Ga., the late Walter A. Walker and Howard J. Walker, Jr. Daughter of the late Howard J. Walker, Sr. and Verlie Cecile Richoux Walker.
Fay was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Vieux Carre Chapter; United Daughters of the Confederacy, Dave Crockett Chapter; River Road Historical Society; New Orleans Genealogical Society; Louisiana Genealogical Society; La Societe of des Cajuns; French Settlement Historical Society; St. Charles Borromeo Church and Perpetual Adoration Chapel. Founder of the Destrehan Descendants Guild and charter member of Friends of the St. Charles Library and Founder of the German Coast Historical and Genealogical Society. Fay retired from the St. Charles Parish Library after 21 years; she remained an active Genealogist and Historian until her death. A native of Norco and resident of Destrehan for 46 years.
Visitation and services were held on Friday, September 19, at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Destrehan. Burial followed in the St. Charles Mausoleum.
Orbeck
Elizabeth Irene Orbeck on Monday, September 15, 2008, at 10:20 a.m. Beloved wife of the late Lawrence D. Orbeck Sr. Mother of Lawrence Jr., and wife Thea, and Chris T. Orbeck. Grandmother of Lawrence III, Jarret, Felicia and Candace. Age 79 years, a native of New Orleans and a resident of LaPlace.
Visitation and services were held at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home in LaPlace on Thursday, September 18. Burial in St. John Memorial Gardens Cemetery in LaPlace.
Trosclair
Eldon Joseph Trosclair died on Thursday, September 11, 2008, at 12:45 a.m. at St. Charles Parish Hospital. A native of New Sarpy, he was employed with Family Business – Fred Trosclair Contractors, Inc. He received a victory medal with the U. S. Army in World War II and an Army of occupation medal Japan. Survived by beloved wife, Enola Trosclair of 53 years; son, Ronnie Trosclair and his wife, Joan of Norco; Todd Trosclair and his wife, Berlyne of Destrehan, Elwin Paul Trosclair and his wife, Colleen of Lutcher; daughter, Connie Boudreaux and her husband, Curtis of Reserve; sister, Leda Mae Steib of Reserve; brother, James “Jim” Trosclair and his wife, Carol of LaPlace; grandchildren, Nicole Trosclair Lasserre, Danielle Trosclair, Ronnie Trosclair Jr., Blake Trosclair, Jason Smith, Jill Boudreaux, Curtis Boudreaux, Todd Patrick Trosclair Jr., Tasha Trosclair, Tonia Trosclair, Amanda Trosclair, Jared Paul Trosclair; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Eldon and Aubrie Smith and Avery Trosclair. Preceded in death by parents, Fred and Emma Gueret Trosclair; brothers, Fred Trosclair Jr. and Adam Trosclair; sister, Annie Scioneaux. Had been in the construction business all his life. Passionate about deer hunting and run dogs at field trials as well as a very good cook. Had a special love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Even though he was informed of the cancer, he refused to stop living. Enjoyed working in the spillway.
Visitation and services were held on Saturday, September 13, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
Trosclair
Myrtis Poche Trosclair on Wednesday, September 17, 2008, at 12:26 p.m. Beloved wife of the late Nelson Trosclair Sr. Mother of Alice Palermo and husband Vince, Susan Madere and husband Gus, Nelson Trosclair Jr. and the late Betty Trosclair. Also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Daughter of the late Rene and Ann Poche. Age 78. A native of Paulina and a resident of Garyville for the past 60 years. Visitation and services were held at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home in LaPlace on Friday, September 19. Burial in St. Peter Cemetery in Reserve.
