Lutcher put the finishing touches on its District 8-4A championship campaign Friday night, performing just as it had in its previous district affairs – dominating from start to finish.
The Bulldogs downed Morgan City 42-0 at Lutcher on Friday night, clinching only the fifth perfect regular season in school history.
Lutcher (10-0, 5-0) outgained Morgan City (2-8, 1-4) 394-121 in total yardage.
Gavin Webster accounted for 236 total yards and four touchdowns in the win. Daniel Taylor rushed for 82 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries.
The game was essentially over after a quarter of play, as Lutcher raced to a 21-0 lead and never looked back.
Taylor got things started by scoring on a 4-yard touchdown run only 1:19 into the game.
A little over a minute later, Lutcher extended the lead to 14-0 on Gavin Webster’s 6-yard touchdown run.
Taylor added another 4-yard score to make it a 21-0 Lutcher lead midway through the first quarter.
The second quarter saw the two most explosive scoring plays of the game, generated by Webster’s arm and his legs. First, he broke loose for a 41-yard touchdown run.
And with 1:35 left before hafltime, he connected with Trevor Englade for a 64-yard score to push the lead to 35-0.
Webster added his third rushing score of the night in the third quarter.
LHS’ Jarvis Landry led all receivers with four catches for 89 yards. Englade finished with three for 86.
