St. Charles Borromeo School in Destrehan held a Water Balloon Blast in October. Students received one water balloon for every five entertainment coupon books they sold during the first school fundraiser of the year. The principal, Donalyn Hassenboehler, agreed to be the “recipient” of the balloons. The principal got pelted with approximately 120 water balloons over the course of the afternoon. The $11,300 profit from the sales will purchase the Terra Nova testing for second-grade students and enhance the school’s curriculum. The Roberts family received a $50 gift card for selling 19 books and the teacher winner was Judy Ruiz (PSB) who received a $25 gift card.
