Alfred Blue rushed for 150 of Hahnville’s 240 rushing yards and scored four touchdowns to lead the Tigers to a 42-21 District 6-5A victory over East St. John in Boutte on Friday night.
The Tigers clinched the district crown outright with the win. East St. John would have clinched a share of the title with a victory.
East St. John (7-3, 3-2) took charge early, scoring on the opening possession. The Wildcats capped an 80-yard drive with a D’haquille Williams 31-yard touchdown run make it 7-0 early on.
All Hahnville (9-1, 5-0) did from there was put five unanswered touchdowns on the board on its first five possessions.
The first came on a 46-yard Blue touchdown run. The second came via James’ Butler’s 31-yard reception from Brian Ensminger. Lloyd Richard got in on the act with a 37-yard scoring run.
Blue added his second score on a 4-yard run, then his third a little over a minute into the second quarter, this time through the air — 33-yard reception from Ensminger.
ESJ scored twice more – both on Williams receptions from Kalen Henderson – and pulled within 14 early in the second half. But Hahnville allowed their rivals to draw no closer, and defeated ESJ for the first time in four years.
