SCC, Hahnville finish as state runner ups

SCC’s run at a second state championship in three years ended at the hands of a powerful Evangel squad. The Eagles repeated as Class 2A state champion, winning 8-0.
The Eagles’ Emily Rousseau earned the win, pitching a complete game shutout and allowing five hits. She struck out eight.
Evangel’s Olivia Guin hit pair of two-run home runs to lead Evangel’s offensive charge.
SCC’s Megan Louque fell to 13-4 after earning four postseason victories. Courtney Western came on in relief to finish the game.
The top-seeded Comets finish their season 26-5.
ST. THOMAS MORE 3, HAHNVILLE 2
St. Thomas More rallied from a 3-1 deficit tonight to defeat Hahnville in the championship game of the Class 5A state softball tournament.
Megan McCollum’s RBI single in the top of the seventh inning broke a 3-3 tie and led to STM’s second consecutive state championship.
HHS’ Destinee Nicholas and Amye Barre each collected RBIs to help HHS build a 3-1 lead entering the sixth inning.
