NEW ORLEANS – Former Reserve Christian standout girls’ basketball player Trenese Smith concluded her career at Loyola this season with a trove of tremendous honors.

For the fourth time in her career, Smith received recognition from the NAIA All-American team, earning honorable mention.

She also was recently named Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-American.

It all comes after a season in which Smith led the GCAC in scoring at 17.1 points per game. She scored in double figures in all but two games and reached the 20-point plateau 13 times this season, including a season-high 28 points in a win over No. 7-ranked Lambuth University.

Smith, a four-time All-GCAC recipient and three-time conference player of the year, leaves Loyola as the all-time leading scorer with 2,439 points. Along with the individual accolades, she guided the Wolfpack to an overall team record of 104-39 (.727), three regular season GCAC championships, and three appearances in the NAIA National Tournament.

She closed out her senior year with 514 points, which placed her at sixth on Loyola?s single season list. Smith now holds four of the top six spots on the list, with her most prolific season coming in 2007-08, where she finished the year with an all-time Loyola best 690 points.

Smith also took All-Gulf Coast Athletic Conference honors for the fourth time in her career, leading the Wolfpack to a 19-11 overall record.
