Karr rallies to beat Destrehan

Destrehan led 10-0 against Karr in the first half but in the end couldn’t avenge its 2009 loss to Karr, as the Cougars secured a 25-10 win over the Wildcats.

Daniel Cimeno’s 23-yard field goal and Rickey Jefferson’s electric 92-yard run had Destrehan (1-2) rolling early, and with the way its defense has played over the first two weeks, it seemed like it would spur DHS to a win.

But Karr quarterback Tollette George answered on a 22-yard touchdown pass to Jarrell Bennett. Then Karr (2-1) took advantage of some Wildcat miscues on the punt team: first, a blocked punt return for a score, then a safety on a second blocked punt that put the Cougars ahead 15-10.

James Kessler’s field goal put Karr ahead 18-10 in the third quarter, and Johnathon Hill’s 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth made it 25-10, essentially icing the game.
